Keeping kids entertained at home

April 3rd, 2020

Whether you’re self-isolating as a precautionary measure, or if someone in your immediate family has been unlucky enough to be unwell and you’re now hunkering down, the fact that schools and childcare facilities are largely closed means many of us are having to contend with home-schooling alongside our usual jobs AND household tasks. And that can be a daunting task!

For some, coming up with creative tasks to keep the kids entertained is easy. For the rest of us, it can be difficult! But fear not, you’re not alone. Let us help you keep the little ones busy and your nerves in tact.

Mini-beast hunt

The weather is warming up, so if you’re lucky enough to have a garden, make sure you get out there and make the most of it! It will be teeming with wildlife. Set your little ones a challenge to see if they can find certain creepy crawlies. The first to find 5, wins!

Get crafty

Get your crafting materials out and ask the kids to get creative in designing and making a paper aeroplane. Once they’re nicely decorated and ready, you can oversee a competition, basing the results on both how thoughtful the design is as well as how far they fly!

Get moving

It can be difficult to get kids moving and away from screens, especially older ones! Physical activities are great to help work off excess energy from being indoors. How about setting a choreography challenge? There are always numerous challenges going viral on the internet, now is the time to get the whole family learning them. And then see if you can still remember it the next day!
